Peter Rimmer is a photojournalist and communications consultant who worked for 16 years as Director of Information with the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE). He has extensive experience in press and media relations; publishing; marketing; and publicity/promotions including campaign management and events.
Moderator and chairman
Peter moderated a technical workshop in Brussels for the European Agency on Psychosocial Risks in 2008, and wrote the proceedings and final report. He acted as moderator for workshops on Dangerous Substances in March 2009 and Violence and Harassment at Work in October 2009, and moderated the NEW OSH ERA Forum loooking at future OSH research in October 2009. He recently moderated a workshop on successful campaigns for EU-OSHA in Bilbao.
Editor and writer
Peter was Editor of Health Protection Matters, a magazine published three times a year by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) from 2004 to 2009.
He edited a prestigious Liber Amicorum for Prevent (Belgium) to celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2007 and contributes to journals and magazines including Safety & Health Practitioner (SHP).
Photographer
Peter is a volunteer photographer with the Woodland Trust. He recently completed a photographic assignment in Nepal and has an extensive range of adventure and travel photographs from South America, Nepal, Mongolia, Namibia, Greenland, India and the Basque country of Spain. He was a jury member for the EU-OSHA photo competiton 2009, and chair in 2011. He is currently studying for a Masters Degree (MA) in Photography.
